Rotherham vs Aston Villa Match Preview
Rotherham picked up a vital three points at the weekend as they defeated Nottingham Forest 2-1 to keep their safety hopes alive. They are still in the bottom three though they are just one behind who sit in 21st place. This is the one of their next four matches that comes against a side who are in the top-half of the Championship.
At the New York Stadium, the Millers have been decent this season picking up 29 of their 39 points here. They have won two of their last three and have lost just one of their last six in front of their own fans. Each of the last eight and 13 of the last 14 at their own place have seen both teams net.
Aston Villa continued their impressive recent form as they defeated Sheffield Wednesday 3-1 at the weekend to make it six straight victories. Villa were a little lucky though as they netted two in injury-time and the expected goals data feels they were second-best in the contest. They sit in fifth place and have a far superior goal-difference to all the sides in the play-off mix.
Away from Villa Park, the Midlands outfit have won the last three and are now unbeaten in their last four. Albert Adomah and John McGinn have both grabbed two goals from their last four appearances on the road. Each of their last two and three of their last four on their travels have seen both teams find the back of the net.
The visitors are strong favourites to win this fixture and given their run of six straight victories and the respective league positions I can see why. That being said Villa were fortunate to beat Sheff Wed at the weekend while Rotherham are tough opponents at their own ground. We recommend avoiding the short price and find another way into this match.
Both these teams are scoring goals at the moment so this looks the way to approach this fixture and we would recommend getting on this game to open up after the break as both sides chase three points. The second-half to be the highest scoring half is an obvious route in as is backing over 1.5 goals during this 45 minutes.
