Romania U21 vs Croatia U21 Match Preview
Croatia U21 travel to Italy for their first U21 Championship in 15 years and look to make an immediate impact, as they also look for their first goal in final tournaments and hope to show off as more than just underdogs in a tough group C also shared with England and France.
Young Blazers have narrowly got through to the final tournament over Greece, only thanks to their goal difference and four consecutive wins late in the competition – where they beat Moldova (4-0), Belarus (0-4), Greece (2-0), and San Marino (0-4) and kept clean sheets on all of the occasions. Nenad Gracan’s boys have struggled to retain such consistency through pre-tournament friendlies but surely still come in a good mood.
Romania U21 have, on the other hand, been more convincing through their Qualifiers and only had Portugal trailing but falling just short. They’ve bagged three home wins in a row late in the Qualifiers too and proved rock-solid at the back, but failed to further pick it up in November and March friendlies.
Tricolorii Mici have thus seen a 3-3 draw against Belgium U21 and suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Spain U21, regaining stability at the back but obviously having a lot to prove if they’re to cause any upset in Italy.
We don’t see them doing so on the opening day of the campaign and we’ll now stick with Croatia U21 to secure the important points which could play a role for them later on, as we go for it at 21/20 with Ladbrokes and hope they can turn a narrow clash their way.
We have seen both sides put on tough defensive displays and base their success on such displays, which has us going for another narrow occasion on the day and backing Under 2.5 Goals FT at 3/4 with bet365 – which has caught attention with many big hitters already.
