Roma vs Genoa Match Preview
Roma are set to open the new campaign on Sunday evening as they host Genoa with hope they can build on a very solid pre-season run and kick off the Serie A season with important home points, looking for their 14th consecutive win over the Liguria rivals at Stadio Olimpico.
Giallorossi have extended a five-match unbeaten streak as they beat Perugia (1-3), Lille (2-3), Real Madrid (on penalties after a 2-2 draw), and most recently Arezzo (1-3) with just a 2-2 draw against Athletic Bilbao seen along the way. They’ve been scoring numbers of goals and will now hope to keep hold of such a trend.
Genoa have seen a similar streak through their pre-season with a somewhat more lenient schedule, building on it with a convincing 4-1 Coppa Italia win over Imolese. Aurelio Andreazzoli has seen new boys Saponara, Ghiglione, and Lasse Schone all make it on the scoresheet in Chiavari, which sets up a great background for the trip to Olimpico.
Rossoblu have earned four wins and a draw (1-1 against Nantes) in five pre-season outings beforehand, regularly enjoying high-scoring clashes along the way and now surely hoping they can show off such a goalscoring form. They will be no easy rivals to beat but it feels the visitors still have the tide to go against here.
We thus feel Roma should have what it takes to outgun the visitors and bag all three points on the opening day of the campaign, as many already rate going for a Home win at 1/2 with Coral like buying money for old rope.
We do feel we’re in for goals, though, and we do see the visitors getting on the scoresheet. We’ll thus also back a Yes on Both teams to score, which comes at 10/11 with bet365 and would be the sixth consecutive head-to-head clash to see goals on both ends.
