Rennes vs Monaco Match Preview
Monaco travel to Rennes for their Matchday 34 clash amid another troubled spell of form, which sees them sitting just four points clear of 18th placed Dijon with five games to play and in desperate need for a pick-me-up.
Les Monegasques have earned just two points in their last four outings, where a 3-1 loss at PSG in another gloomy day for them at Parc des Princes feels a lot like a cold shower for Leonardo Jardim – as Aleksandr Golovin’s late goal proved nothing more than a consolation which fades with draws against Guingamp (1-1) and Reims (0-0) seen beforehand.
Rennes have seen a troubled streak of their own since early April but they’ve ended it at the most crucial time, where they bagged silverware in a Coupe de France Final win over PSG (on penalties after a 2-2 draw) with a comeback after conceding two very early goals.
Les Rouges et Noirs will thus obviously come into the match in a lot better mood and Julien Stephan will want to build on it, as his men prove character in another high-scoring contest. They now promise a great challenge for Monaco and we feel they have what it takes to shoot them down.
With that in mind, going for a Double Chance – Home win or a Draw feels like buying money for old rope at 4/7 with bet365, especially after seeing the visitors’ troubled defensive performances on the road recently.
Still, we expect an exciting clash in the making and we’ll now also back a Yes on Both teams to score at 8/11 with Paddy Power. We’ve seen both sides conceding (and scoring) numbers of goals and this feels like evidence for such a bet on Wednesday evening as well.
