Rennes vs Lyon Match Preview
Lyon travel to Rennes as they return to Ligue 1 after the International break looking to build on a thriller 3-2 win over Montpellier seen before it, as they bounced back from a thrashing 5-1 loss at Barcelona in Champions League – which doesn’t really do them justice.
Les Gones have been scoring and conceding numbers of goals on the regular but the Champions League trip was their only loss in five outings since late February, which should still have them confident in search of an upset at Roazhon Park.
Rennes have seen Europa League disappointment of their own as they suffered a convincing 3-0 loss at Arsenal, who overturned their 3-1 home win in the first leg. They’ve struggled to bounce back quickly and just saw a 1-1 draw at Bordeaux since then, which will be even more worrying for Julien Stephan.
Red and Blacks have great home records to boast, though, and will now hope to show off once again. They’ve bagged 11 wins and three draws in 14 outings here since early December and we feel they have what it takes to keep it up – despite a very strong challenge looming.
We will thus stick with Rennes to keep hold of their unbeaten streak with an enticing Double Chance – Home win or Draw at 8/11 with bet365. They have shown a lot and we expect them in a great mood as they look to close the gap to the league’s top 4.
However, Lyon have been scoring many goals lately and we feel they’ll have to cope with the rivals in the final third if Red and Blacks are to do so! We’ll thus also go for a Yes on Both teams to score, which really feels like buying money at 8/13 with William Hill.
