Rennes vs Arsenal Match Preview
Arsenal travel to Rennes for the first leg of their Europa League clash on Thursday looking to build on a four-match unbeaten streak just days after holding off Tottenham (1-1), which would surely be an important advantage for Unai Emery’s men ahead of the home clash.
Gunners have beaten BATE (3-0), Southampton (2-0), and AFC Bournemouth (5-1) but we have seen more troubles turning clashes their way on the road, which could be more worrying. They’ve only beaten Blackpool (0-3) and Huddersfield (1-2) in ten trips since early December and will now need more up front to build on the tally.
Rennes have, on the other hand, proven themselves a tough side to beat at home ground and will have to base the success against Premier League rivals on a solid display here before anything else. They’ve beaten Betis (6-4 on aggregate) in a high-scoring 16th finals clash and will want to keep it up.
Red and Blacks suffered just one loss in eight outings across competitions too and this should have them motivated to impress, as they look to make the contest at Roazhon Park. They’ve been regularly scoring goals and we do feel Arsenal are in for a tough challenge on the day.
Still, we feel the visitors have what it takes to turn this one their way and we’ll now stick with an Away win at Evens with Paddy Power, which looks great value as they have been picking it up over the past couple of weeks.
We believe Rennes will do their bit in making this an exciting clash, though, and with that in mind – we’re also backing a Yes on Both teams to score at 8/11 with William Hill which has caught the eye of many in the know already.
