Reims vs Monaco Match Preview

Monaco have seen a very troubled start of the new campaign and their defensive woes really came to light once again as Marseille (3-4) snatched all three points at Stade Louis II last week, despite Wissam Ben Yedder opening the scoresheet with a brace and Keita Balde adding one with 15 minutes still on the clock.

Les Monegasques have thus seen a streak of two draws ended, after being held off by Nimes (2-2) and Strasbourg (2-2) in two thrilling clashes. Leonardo Jardim will now surely feel the pressure despite the great trust he enjoys in Monaco, which will make the hunt for their first win this term all the more important.

Reims have proven themselves a tough nut to crack at this ground, though, and we’ve already seen them earn four points in two home outings. They’ve held off Strasbourg (0-0) and beat Lille (2-0) as the defensive line keeps impressing under David Guion, which should have them very motivated to keep it up on the day.

Les Rouges et Blancs have thus conceded just two goals in five games and while this was enough for losses at Brest (1-0) and Nantes (1-0) most recently, it will surely be something to build on. They’ve been tough to break down and we feel we’re in for more of the same from them here.

We will thus stick our necks out for them to hold off the troubled visitors and we’ll go for a Draw, which comes at 11/5 with William Hill and catches our eye as quite possibly the best approach to the fixture – with Monaco’s struggles and Reims’ disappointing week behind them.
