Odds correct at the time of writing
Paris Saint-Germain have a perfect Champions League record this season of four wins to nil – but we fancy it to be shattered by Real Madrid on Tuesday.
France’s dominant football club of the current era set the tone for what has been a highly impressive Group A campaign so far with a 3-0 home triumph against Real Madrid in September, and they have added a further seven goals without reply to secure their place in the knockout stage.
In contrast, Real looked nothing like the team that dominated this competition with four wins out of five from 2014-18 until they won both of their back-to-back double-header games against Galatasaray, but a 6-0 drubbing of the Turkish club last time out suggested Los Blancos are getting back to somewhere near their best.
Victory on Tuesday would send Zinedine Zidane’s side through to the last 16 alongside PSG and with home advantage, they look well capable of achieving that following a run of five wins in six matches, plus a 0-0 draw, domestically and in Europe.
PSG would clinch top spot in this pool even with a draw in the Spanish capital, although the anticipated victory at home to Galatasaray two weeks from now also gets that job done regardless of Tuesday’s result.
There has been much more to like about Real Madrid’s recent results than was the case earlier in the season and with Karim Benzema in particularly hot goalscoring form, they can gain revenge for their emphatic defeat in Paris.
