Real Madrid vs Girona Match Preview
Real Madrid host Girona for their Copa del Rey clash on the back of an important win over Sevilla (2-0) with late goals from Casemiro and Luka Modric, hoping to take confidence from it and earn an important Cup advantage in front of the home fans once again.
Los Blancos have now earned three wins in their last four outings and only a 1-0 loss at Leganes, which still saw them proceed to the Quarter-finals, seen along the way feels well behind them. They will now want to show off against struggling rivals and we do see them doing so.
Girona haven’t managed a win since early December and five draws in eight outings hardly feel like a boost to their mood ahead of the trip to Santiago Bernabeu. They’ve seen a thriller 3-2 loss at Betis over the weekend and finding the net twice just wasn’t enough for Eusebio Sacristan and his men.
Gironistes have been scoring goals on the regular and will want to still take the positives from such a streak, but coping with in-form Real will be more of a task. They’ve snatched a thriller 3-3 draw at Atletico to get through to the Quarter-finals but we don’t see the visitors doing damage on the day.
We have seen Real Madrid enjoy a more defensive display more recently and we now hope for another such quest, as we stick our necks out for them to win to Nil at an eye-catching 6/4 with BetVictor.
Karim Benzema should be leading the attacking line troubled with injuries and he’s enjoyed playing against Girona earlier this term, netting a brace in a 1-4 win at Estadi Municipal de Montilivi in August. This has us backing him to find the net anytime and end his four-match goalless streak at 21/20 with Unibet.
