Reading vs Wigan Match Preview
Reading suffered their second defeat in the last three though they worked hard before going down 1-0 at Elland Road to Leeds. It is just one win in the last nine for the Berkshire outfit but they should have enough points to be safe this season
At the Madejski Stadium, the Royals are winless in their last four (drawing two and losing two) though three of their four opponents are in the top six. Birmingham are the only bottom eight side to have won here this season.
Wigan saw their unbeaten run stretch to three games with a 1-0 win at home to Millwall at the weekend that came after draws with Cardiff and Middlesbrough. They now sit in 22nd and are just one place and two points off Huddersfield in 21st.
Away from the DW Stadium, the Latics have been a mixed bag of late with two victories, two draws and two defeats in their last six. The last six goals the Lancashire side have bagged on the road have come from different sources.
Bookmakers make Reading favourites to win this match which given their home advantage and higher standing in the league makes sense. Wigan have not been great on the road this season but just one defeat in four suggests they are improving.
In a tough game to call backing a couple of players in the goalscorer markets makes sense and for the hosts Michael Olise looks too big for a player who plays in a front four. The Frenchman had four in nine at under 23 level and is getting into the right places and the goals should come soon.
For the visitors, Cheyenne Dunkley has two in his last four games and always offer a goal threat from set-pieces and is taken to net here.
