Reading vs Sheffield United Match Preview
Sheffield United travel to Reading for their FA Cup clash with a four-match unbeaten streak behind them, holding Brighton to a 1-1 draw over the weekend and building on a streak where they beat Millwall (0-2 in FA Cup), Crystal Palace (0-1), and Bournemouth (2-1) since late January.
Blades have been very solid at the back and will surely want to keep up with the top 4 with a more lenient schedule still on their hands. However, Chris Wilder’s men have a lot yet to prove and a ticket to the Quarter-finals against the Championship rivals would be a great boost to their confidence.
Reading have, on the other hand, been very unpredictable and sit 16th with just an eight-point gap to the relegation zone after 36 Championship outings. They beat struggling Barnsley (2-0) as Yakou Meite and George Puscas made it on the scoresheet on Saturday but building on the performance will be a tough task now.
Royals saw losses to Leeds (1-0) and Wigan (0-3) beforehand and their struggles to retain consistency in the final third have been very obvious. Mark Bowen’s men will need to show more if they’re to make their way to the next round here and we don’t really see them up to the task at this point.
We will thus stick with Sheffield United to earn their ticket to the Quarter-finals here already and go for an Away win at 5/6 with William Hill, hoping to see the visitors turn a rather narrow contest their way on Tuesday evening.
Indeed, we should be in for a tough challenge but we feel a lot will depend on the Blades’ defensive performance once again. With that in mind, we do see them keeping it together at the back and we’ll go for Sheffield United to keep a clean sheet at 11/8 with Paddy Power.
