Reading vs Charlton Match Preview

Reading stretched their unbeaten league run to three games with a 2-0 defeat over Huddersfield last weekend. They also won 4-2 at Plymouth in midweek in the League Cup to make five without defeat in all competitions.

At the Madejski Stadium, the Royals have won one (against Cardiff) and lost one (to Sheffield Wednesday) with both games going over 2.5 goals. It means they have lost just one of the last six and two of the last 11 played here.

Charlton continued their impressive start to the season with a 1-0 victory over Brentford that means they remain one of four unbeaten sides (Leeds, Swansea and West Brom are the others). The focus this week has been on Lee Bowyer who has been strongly linked with the Huddersfield job a rumour that he has denied.

Away from the Valley, the Addicks have won one (2-1 at Blackburn) fixture and drawn the other (2-2 at Barnsley). Lyle Taylor has netted in both road games so far as part of his four goals for the current season.

The hosts are playing well but the odds on the visiting side appeal even despite the rumours linking Lee Bowyer with Huddersfield. For now he has denied them and he does not seem the type of manager who would give anything less than 100% to his current cause until the day he leaves employment. Reading have been playing well but so have Charlton and backing the visitors along with the draw in the double chance market looks sensible.
