Reading vs Birmingham Stats
- Reading lost just one of their last nine at home
- Birmingham are unbeaten in their last six
- Blues have lost just one of their last five at this ground
Reading saw their four-game winning run come to an end at the weekend as they suffered a 2-1 loss at Middlesbrough. They are though safe and could finish the season as high as 18th and as low as 21st depending on results. Jose Gomez has done a decent job since coming in and he will hope to be able to push them into the top-half next season with a whole summer behind him.
At the Madejski, the Royals have won five, drawn three and lost just one of their last nine league fixtures. Five of the last seven at this ground have seen both teams score and the same number of matches going under 2.5 goals. Yakou Meite has four goals from his last five appearances at this ground.
Birmingham stretched their unbeaten run to six last time out as they were held 1-1 at home by Wigan that was their fourth draw in six. The result leaves them in 17th place though they would be up in 12th if not for their nine-point penalty. Gary Monk has done a good job with all the off-field issues and he will hope they are behind them now.
Away from St Andrew’s, the Blues are unbeaten in their last two though have lost three of their last five. Each of their last three and seven of their last nine on the road have seen both teams find the back of the net. Lukas Jutkiewicz has found the back of the net in two of his last three appearances on his travels.
Bookmakers are having trouble splitting the pair with both available at similar prices and we tend to agree. In this case, then the draw looks the value call especially considering this has happened in four of the last five for the Blues and three of the last four for the Royals.
Both teams to score has happened in each of the last five for Birmingham and six of the last for seven for Reading and we like combining this with the draw for an even better value selection.
