Rangers vs Stranraer Match Preview
Rangers have been furious and they started the New Year in a similar fashion as they beat Lokomotiv (6-1) in last week’s friendly, connecting their fifth win in a row and now hoping to build on it as they host League One strugglers Stranraer for their 4th Round FA Cup clash on Friday.
Gers beat Motherwell (0-2), Hibernian (0-3), Kilmarnock (1-0), and Celtic (1-2) in late December and they’ll surely enjoy the break, sitting just two points behind pace-setting Bhoys but holding a game in hand. They’ve been scoring numbers of goals on the regular and building on such consistency will be crucial for Steven Gerrard.
Stranraer have to look for an upset and come into the match as heavy underdogs for a reason, seeing six losses in eight League One outings and only ending the streak with draws against Dumbarton (1-1) and Clyde (3-3) in late December and early January, respectively.
Blues have beaten Dunfermline (1-0) in FA Cup along the way as James Hilton made the difference from the spot, but struggled to keep it together at the back lately. They conceded a high total of 13 goals in the last five outings and doing more against Rangers will be a must in search of an upset.
However, we don’t see the visitors making it happen or even coming close for that matter. Rangers have been quite convincing and we’ll now back them to more of the same and go for a comfortable Home win with Asian Handicap -3.5 – hoping to see the obvious difference in depth of quality.
We thus expect goals but we’re hoping to see a one-sided contest at Ibrox. Gers will want a clean sheet and we’ll back them to it, which would be the fourth such occasion in six competitive home outings since early November. They’ve been tough at the back and we should see more of the same in that sense as well.
