Rangers vs St Mirren Match Preview
Rangers host St Mirren for their Matchday 22 clash on Wednesday in great shape and on the back of a six-match winning streak across competitions, including a 6-1 thrashing in a friendly against Lokomotiv and the most recent FA Cup win over League One rivals Stranraer (2-0) in the past two weeks.
Gers now sit just two points behind Celtic at the top of the table and have a game in hand, which will have them just as motivated on the day. They beat Bhoys (1-2) at Celtic Park in late December and Steven Gerrard obviously has ground to build, with a rock-solid defensive line as well as in-form Jermain Defoe and Alfredo Morelos leading the attacking line.
St Mirren have proven themselves a tough side to beat lately and while they still sit in the bottom part of the table, they travel to Ibrox with two wins behind them and surely hope for an upset – having seen just one loss in six outings across competitions and conceding just five goals in the process.
Buddies saw Celtic (1-2) snatch the points but managed to hold off Livingston (3-3), St Johnstone (0-0) while beating Hamilton Academical (0-1), Kilmarnock (1-0), and Broxburn Athletic (3-0) in FA Cup most recently. We thus hope to see a solid challenge and while they could be in for the toughest challenge yet, we expect the visitors in good shape.
We will still back Rangers to secure the points and we’ll go for them to do so in a Home win to Nil, which comes at 4/6 with BetVictor and looks like buying money for old rope as Gerrard’s men enjoy a great moment defensively.
However, we don’t really see this as a very one-sided clash in the making either and with that in mind, we’re going for Under 3.5 Goals FT at 4/5 with bet365. We’ve seen just six goals in Rangers’ last four home outings and we’re now hoping for more of the same.
