Rangers vs Aberdeen Match Preview
Rangers kept up with Celtic at the top of the Premiership table and they’ve been denied points only in a 0-2 home loss to the Bhoys early in September, hosting Aberdeen for their Matchday 7 clash with 15 points to their name and just days after their League Cup trip to Livingston (0-1 win).
Gers have beaten Livi (3-1) just after the International break too and built on the success across competitions, beating Feyenoord (1-0) with a single goal from Ojo and snatching the points more convincingly at St. Johnstone (0-4) over the weekend. Steven Gerrard will now want to build on such positives, which does promise them in good spirits.
Aberdeen have, on the other hand, seen a thriller clash at Hearts in League Cup midway through the week and now look to finally build on their consistency after a rather unpredictable spell – where they still extended a five-match unbeaten streak since mid-August.
Dons have earned three wins and two draws along the way, sitting four points behind the 2nd placed rivals now. They will hope to close the gap as soon as this weekend with an upset at Ibrox Stadium, something they’ve managed twice in a row before seeing a 2-0 loss here in late April.
We don’t feel they will now be able to end Rangers’ rock-solid streak and we’ll now go for the home side to turn another narrow contest their way, backing them to win and Under 2.5 Goals FT at 14/5 with in hope we’ll see a solid defensive setup.
With that in mind, we’re also sticking our necks for Gers to keep a clean sheet here, which comes at 10/11 with William Hill. We’ve seen them keep clean sheets in all of their last three outings, which does feel like further evidence for such a bet.
