Raith Rovers vs Dundee Match Preview
Raith Rovers have failed to secure Championship promotion through the Play-offs as they fell victims to Queen of the South (1-3 on aggregate) but they’ve picked it up through the pre-season and now hope to kick off the new campaign well too, as they host Dundee for their League Cup clash on Saturday afternoon.
Rovers have beaten Stirling Albion (1-0), Hamilton Academical (3-2), Spartans (2-0), and Cowdenbeath (2-1) since late June and John McGlynn will want to build on such a streak, as his men look for important points in an attempt to come off as strong opposition for the top spot.
Dundee have seen a more disappointing campaign last term as they lost the Premiership status and finished huge 11 points behind 5th placed St. Mirren in Relegation Group. They have recuperated it feels and connected a two-match unbeaten streak in pre-season friendlies but James McPake and his men could need more.
Dee beat Brechin City (1-2) in late June and held Nottingham Forest to a goalless draw in early July, which will surely have them hoping for a tougher defensive setup at Stark’s Park too – having conceded just one goal in three trips across competitions and basing success on such performances.
However, we don’t see them snatching all three points on the day and we’ll now rather stick with Raith Rovers to hold them off in front of the home fans, as we go for an enticing Double Chance – Home win or Draw at 5/6 with William Hill.
We have seen them very solid at this ground but Rovers could have to cope in the final third to do so, as we now also go for goals and a Yes on Both teams to score – which comes at 8/13 with Unibet and looks like more of a banker bet here.
