QPR vs Blackburn Match Preview
QPR picked up a crucial three points last Saturday as they hammered Swansea 4-0 to end a seven-game winless run. They are up to 17th and the gap between them and Rotherham is now eight points and they look safe for another season. It seems unlikely they will appoint a new manager before the end of the season so John Eustace will be given time to stake his claim for the position with Tim Sherwood and Carlos Carvalhal current market leaders.
At Loftus Road, the Rs have been a mixed bag of late with two victories, one draw and two defeats in their last five. Each of their last three and six of their last eight have gone over 2.5 goal with five seeing both teams net. Tomer Hemed has three in the last six Championship fixtures at this ground including a brace in the last one.
Blackburn made it back-to-back league victories at the weekend as they won 2-1 on the road at Nottingham Forest. The result moved them into 15th and they will be targeting a top-half finish to end the season. It is has been an up and down campaign for the Lancashire outfit but overall in their first season back from League One mid-table safety is a job well done.
Away from Ewood Park, Rovers had gone six without a victory before picking up the three points at the City Ground. No side in the Championship has shipped more road goals with Blackburn having conceded 45 times. Each of their last seven on the road has seen both teams score and gone over 2.5 goals.
With both teams safe it has hard to make a real case for either one here especially as both are showing a Jekyll and Hyde nature which is fitting of their mid-table positions. Bookmakers make QPR favourites though we prefer to look at the player markets for the value.
For the visitors, Bradley Dack is at the heart of most things good and he had three shots on target last weekend without netting and he looks capable of a breakthrough here. For the hosts, Darnell Furlong scored last weekend and yet bookmakers continue to overlook him because he plays in defence. The son of former player Paul seems to have inherited some of the attacking instincts his dad possesses and should be given licence to get forward here.
