PSG vs Nice Match Preview
Paris Saint-Germain have unsurprisingly already wrapped up the Ligue 1 title in Thomas Tuchel’s first season in charge. With just four games remaining, the league leaders have a 16 point gap over second-placed Lille OSC but that doesn’t tell the whole story of the season. Once again, les Parisiens have failed to show their abilities in the Champions League, being knocked out in the Round of 16 by Manchester United.
Last weekend, the men from the capital were also beaten on penalties in the final of the Coupe de France by a Stade Rennais side led by former Parc des Princes man Hatem ben Arfa (which was followed by an incident involving Neymar who has since been handed a five game ban) and indeed, le PSG have managed just one win in their last six games in all competitions now. Can they bounce back with three points here at 1/5 with Bet365.
OGC Nice have not quite been able to chase down the teams at the top of the table in their race for European qualification this term. An eight point gap has now opened up between les Aiglons and Saint-Etienne, who sit in fourth place and thus the final Europa League qualification spot and although that is not an impossible bridge to gap for Allianz Riviera outfit in four games, it would take a spectacular collapse from les Verts now.
After losing enigmatic but at times talismanic striker Mario Balotelli to southern rivals Marseille in January, Patrick Vieira’s men have at times struggled for goals in the second half of the season but they are in fine form at the moment. The only defeat for OGCN in their last six games came at home to Caen but they bounced back last weekend to hammer Guingamp 3-0 – can they now go and become the latest team to upset the champions at 13/1 with PaddyPower?
We’re backing the visitors to get something from this game. PSG seem to be in the middle of an implosion of sorts at the end of the Ligue 1 campaign, with Neymar’s lash-out at a supporter following the Coupe de France final defeat at the hands of Stade Rennais showing that the squad is reaching breaking point at the moment. With only one win in their last six, we can’t resist backing them to drop points here again – Nice/Draw double chance is priced at a tempting 7/2 with Nice or draw double chance @ 7/2 with Bet365.
With no Mario Balotelli in the squad, defender Youcef Attal is actually OGC Nice’s joint-top scorer this season with six goals. Three of them came in a stunning hat-trick against Guingamp last week and after that trio of goals can you resist odds of 7/1 for the Algerian to get on the scoresheet again here at 7/1 with PaddyPower?
