PSG vs Nantes Match Preview
PSG host Nantes for their Matchday 16 clash on Wednesday evening after an unexpected week-long rest, having seen their clash against Monaco postponed for bad weather over the weekend. They should still be in a great mood and very motivated to build on the five-point gap behind them, with a game in hand to 2nd placed Marseille.
Parisians held Real Madrid to a 2-2 draw last week and while they saw a three-match winning streak ended, this saw them top the Group A table with a game to spare and Thomas Tuchel certainly has a lot to build on. They haven’t been scoring as many goals lately but still felt confident, which promises another great challenge now.
Nantes have, on the other hand, only ended a three-match winless streak as they beat Toulouse (2-1) in front of the home fans on Sunday and they’ll be desperate for points to climb the table. They’ve been scoring goals but still saw Brest (1-1) snatch one and St Etienne (2-3) all three in a five-goal thriller.
Canaries have struggled for goalscoring consistency on the road and this could be more worrying. They failed to find the net at Metz (1-0) and Bordeaux (2-0) in October and early November, respectively, and we don’t really feel they’ll be able to get on the scoresheet at Parc des Princes either.
We will thus back PSG to secure the points and base such a success on a tough defensive approach before anything else. We’ll go for a Home win to Nil and it certainly feels like a generous pick at 3/4 with BetVictor as their fifth such win in a row here.
Still, we hope to see Nantes show off as a tough nut to crack on the day. We’ve seen them do so on many occasions and with that in mind, we don’t really expect smooth sailing for PSG – as we also back Under 3.5 Goals FT at 4/6 with William Hill.
