Portsmouth vs Wycombe Match Preview
Wycombe saw their 12-match unbeaten streak in League One ended last week, as a single goal from James Henry still early in the game made all the difference and they dropped all three points at Oxford. They now travel on a tough trip to Portsmouth looking to bounce quickly and build on a seven-point behind them – as none of the chasers really capitalized.
Wanderers have been tough to score against lately and kept three clean sheets beforehand, beating Doncaster(1-0) and Burton (2-0) in front of the home fans while holding Ipswich to a goalless draw at Portman Road along the way. They will now want more of the same and will surely be in a good mood.
Portsmouth have plans of their own, though, after proving themselves a very tough nut to crack at this ground and catching up with the top 6 mainly for it. They beat Ipswich (1-0) on Saturday and earned their seventh win in ten outings here, with Gillingham (0-0), Oxford (1-1), and Peterborough (2-2) snatch points along the way.
Pompey conceded goals in six of the last seven of those occasions, which will be more worrying ahead of the Boxing Day clash. They still boast great goalscoring records, which promises an exciting contest but we feel they could have trouble turning this one their way.
We will thus stick our necks out for the sides to share the spoils in Portsmouth and we’ll go for a Draw priced at 5/2 with bet365, which comes off as more than just a lively longshot with both sides coming very motivated to secure points here.
We do expect thrills and with that in mind, we hope to see goals. We’ve gotten used to such clashes at Fratton Park and we’re now hoping for more of the same as we go for a Yes on Both teams to score at 19/20 with bet365, which seems like a solid approach to the fixture.
