Portsmouth vs Fleetwood Match Preview
Portsmouth host Fleetwood for their Matchday 18 clash on Tuesday evening desperate to bounce to the winning ways and build on their top 6 spot in League One, sitting 6th but only for better goal difference than the visitors as well as Wycombe. They’ve seen Arsenal (0-2) and Peterborough (2-0) both deny them last week and will need more.
Pompey have been more convincing in front of the home fans and Gunners only ended a streak of ten wins at Fratton Park, where Kenny Jackett’s men netted 24 goals. We now expect them very motivated to bounce to such a streak and with the stakes sky-high at this point, it difficult to imagine anything else.
Fleetwood will be no easy rivals to deal with, though, and they travel to Portsmouth with an 11-match unbeaten streak going back as far as mid-January. They bagged six wins and five draws along the way, basing success on a very tough defensive approach as Joey Barton reignites promotion hopes.
Trawlermen saw Blackpool snatch a point in a goalless draw at Highbury Stadium over the weekend, though, and this will be more worrying. They have been tough to beat but can still hardly boast great consistency on the road, which still makes then a tough nut to crack in the eyes of many on Tuesday as well.
We do feel Portsmouth will have what it takes to turn the contest their way and we will now go for a Home win at 11/10 with BetVictor, hoping they can rediscover confidence we’ve seen through most of the campaign.
We do expect a strong challenge and Fleetwood will want to make this a tough deadlock to break. With that in mind, we’re also hoping for few goals and we’ll go for Under 2.5 goals FT, which comes at 8/11 with VirginBet!
