Portsmouth vs Bristol Rovers Match Preview
Portsmouth host Bristol Rovers for their Matchday 30 League One clash just days after their trip to Southend United in search of a return to the winning ways after five games without one, where they saw Luton Town (3-2) extend the gap at the top of the table as well as Doncaster (1-1) and Plymouth (1-1) hold them off.
Pompey have seen an FA Cup exit (2-0 in a replay at QPR) along the way too and bouncing back will be no easy task now, despite showing off as a tough side to beat along the way. They’ve been rock-solid at Fratton Park through most part of the campaign and building on such performances will be essential for their top 2 ambitions.
Bristol have, on the other hand, connected a four-match unbeaten streak but it only sees them hovering above the relegation zone with four sides breathing down their necks. They have picked it up in the final third and this will have Graham Coughlan hopeful his men can build on it here.
Pirates have beaten Port Vale (3-0) in EFL Trophy and we’ve seen them build on the success as they held off Peterborough (2-2) and Shrewsbury (1-1) – beating Southend (1-2) on the road in the process. They will be desperate for points to keep it up and we do expect a strong challenge.
However, we don’t feel the visitors have what it takes to snatch points on the day and we’ll now back Portsmouth to return to the winning ways in front of the home fans, going for a Home win at 4/5 with BetVictor.
We have seen Bristol Rovers pick it up in the final third lately, though, and with that in mind – we see them getting on the scoresheet once again! We’ll thus go for a Yes on Both teams to score at 17/20 with Paddy Power, which feels like a solid approach to the fixture as well.
