Portsmouth vs Bradford Match Preview
Portsmouth host Bradford for their Matchday 35 clash on Saturday afternoon amid a troubled spell of form which sees them trailing ten points behind League One pace-setters Luton Town, where they failed to earn a league win since the New Year’s and saw an FA Cup exit in the hands of Queens Park Rangers (2-0) along the way.
Pompey have shared the spoils with Plymouth Argyle (1-1), Southend (3-3), Bristol Rovers (1-1), and Barnsley (0-0) since early February and while failing to really capitalize on the goals scored, we still feel Kenny Jackett shouldn’t have a hard time lifting his men’s team spirits.
Bradford sit on the other end of the table and seemingly feel a solid opportunity to bounce back, as Portsmouth look to connect a double over the rivals after snatching the points at Northern Commercials Stadium with a single goal from Gareth Evans.
Bantams have finally ended the goalscoring drought last week but this wasn’t enough to end their winless streak or any points at Walsall (3-2) for that matter, as David Hopkin’s men failed to bounce back from a narrow loss to Fleetwood (0-1) and goalless draws against Wycombe Wanderers and Plymouth seen earlier in February.
They will now want to capitalize on Portsmouth’s woes but we don’t see them making it happen, as we stick with a Home win here at 4/6 with William Hill. The home side will have to base their chase for the top 2 spots on performances here and we feel they’ll show off as such a side on the day.
However, we don’t feel Pompey will be able to do so without conceding either and going for a Yes on Both teams to score seems like even more of a banker bet at 13/20 with Paddy Power, seeing Bantams netted 13 goals on last ten trips as well.
