Portsmouth vs AFC Wimbledon Match Preview
Portsmouth have been in fine form lately and we’ve seen them make their way to the 4th Round of FA Cup as well as the EFL trophy Quarter-finals over Fleetwood (1-2) and Walsall (1-2), respectively. They’ve been very tough to beat at Fratton Park too and Kenny Jackett will want to build on such team spirits.
Pompey bagged six wins in seven home outings since early November and only saw Peterborough (2-2) snatch a point along the way, bagging two or more goals on six of those occasions as well. They will now surely be very motivated to impress once again and challenge the top 6 with points here.
AFC Wimbledon have been more unpredictable and they sit just outside the relegation zone, after earning four points in their last four outings. They saw losses to Tranmere (1-0) and Oxford (1-2) along the way, beating Bristol Rovers (1-2) and sharing the spoils with struggling Southend (1-1) most recently.
Dons have struggled for goalscoring consistency on the road and while they shocked Rovers on Boxing Day, building on such success in Portsmouth still feels unlikely. They failed to find the net in four of their last seven games on the road, as the attacking line led by Marcus Forss just fails to deliver.
We don’t see them doing so now either and we’ll now rather back Portsmouth to bag the points with confidence in a Home win to Nil, which comes priced at 6/4 with bet365 and has caught the eye of many value seekers already.
With that in mind, we hope not to see many goals now either and we’ll also go for a low-scoring contest at Fratton Park. We’ll back Under 2.5 Goals FT at 21/20 with BetVictor despite hoping for a comfortable win for the home side.
