Portland Timbers vs Orlando City Match Preview
Portland Timbers have been in fine form since mid-June and they now host Orlando City hoping to build on the streak, where they only saw a thriller 2-2 draw against Colorado Rapids end a series of three wins after beating Dallas (1-0), New York City (0-1), and Los Angeles FC (0-1) with just three goals scored along the way.
Timbers have lost such consistency at the back, though, and this could be more worrying as they look to climb the Western Conference table. They’ve been very tough at Providence Park and suffered just one loss here since August 2018 and this will give them ground to build on.
Orlando have seen similar pick-me-ups last week and come into the match on the back of two important wins, where they beat New York City (on penalties after a 1-1 draw) in US Open Cup Quarter-finals midway through the week and built on the success with an MLS win over Columbus (1-0) over the weekend.
Lions have seen more troubles on the road, lately, failing to cope with the big guns and now desperate to end the unpredictable run. They’ve seen a 2-2 draw at Philadelphia Union in early July and will now hope for another high-scoring quest on the day, but we don’t see them snatching points.
We’ll thus back Portland Timbers to build on their fine displays of recent and bag all three points at Providence Park once again, as we rate a Home win a banker bet at 11/20 with Unibet and back the heavy favourites at this point.
We have seen both sides scoring (and conceding) goals and seeing Orlando regularly enjoy such clashes, we’ll now also go for a Yes on Both teams to score at 8/11 with 22bet – which does seem a solid approach to the fixture by itself.
