Poland vs North Macedonia Match Preview
Poland host North Macedonia for their EURO 2020 Qualifiers clash on Sunday evening, just days after their trip to Latvia (0-3), where a hat-trick from Robert Lewandowski proved enough for a return to the winning ways and three important points to keep them at the top of Group G.
Orly have seen a disappointing September and suffered a 2-0 loss in Slovenia and shared the spoils in a goalless draw against Austria at this ground, which could make it all the more important to put such goalscoring woes behind them. They will now want to build on the performance and we expect them just as motivated.
North Macedonia have kept up with the top 2 with a 2-1 win over Slovenia, where Eljif Elmas bagged two in the second half and Josip Ilicic’s 95’ penalty-kick goal was nothing but a poor consolation for the visitors. They sit just two points behind 2nd placed Austria despite an unpredictable streak beforehand, which gives them a lot to play for.
Red Lynxes have thus built on a 0-2 win in Latvia and will be hopeful they can capitalize on possibly the tougher away day in the campaign. There is a lot yet to prove if they’re to snatch the spot leading to EURO but we expect them very motivated to impress at Stadion Narodowy, which promises an exciting occasion.
We have seen Poland rock-solid in front of the home fans, though, and we feel they’ll have too much for North Macedonia to handle. We’ll thus go for a Home win to Nil, which comes at 17/20 with William Hill and would be their seventh clean sheet in the Qualifiers.
We feel we’re in for anything but a one-sided contest, though, and this could prove a tough one to turn their way. With that in mind, we’re also hoping for few goals and it feels like a good approach to the fixture as we go for Under 2.5 Goals FT at Evens with Paddy Power.
