Plymouth vs Oldham Match Preview
Plymouth lost 3-1 at Northampton last time out to see their two-game unbeaten league run come to an end. They have made a good start to the season with ten points and sitting in six though the expected goals data feels this flatters them and has them as low as 13th.
At Home Park, Argyle have looked strong seeing off Colchester and Walsall without conceding a goal and drawing with Salford. Ryan Taylor grabbed a brace the last time he played in front of his own fans in the league.
Oldham lost 1-0 at home to Colchester last time out which was their third defeat in the last five and fourth of the season. Athletic are 22nd in the table with just four points while the expected goals data feels they should be bottom.
Away from Boundary Park, the Latics started with defeats to Forest Green and Bradford but last time on the road defeated Cambridge 2-1. It also put to an end a five-game travelling record of failing to find the back of the net.
The hosts are short favourites to win the match and it is hard to argue with that given the respective starts these two have both made. This is a difficult game to get a read on as Argyle have been strong defensively at home and the Latics struggled to score on the road but the last game both played turned this on the head with Oldham netting two and Plymouth conceding two.
One angle of attack is a couple of players in the anytime goalscorer markets and for the hosts we like the look of Ryan Taylor who has three in his last three appearances in all competitions. For the visitors, Chris Eagles has yet to net this season but he is a talent at this level and it should not be long before he starts firing in goals.
