Peterborough vs Coventry Preview
Peterborough host Coventry for their Matchday 16 League One clash as the pace-setters with 27 points to their name and three sides breathing down their necks, including the visitors who are just three points behind. They’ve been rock-solid in front of the home fans and will now want to show off in an attempt to build on the gap.
Posh have a six-match unbeaten streak behind them, built around an impressive run in front of the home fans where they’ve seen nothing but wins since late August. They’ve beaten Sunderland (3-0), Rochdale (6-0), Wimbledon (3-2), Arsenal U21 (1-0), Lincoln (2-0), and Accrington Stanley (4-0) along the way, keeping it together at the back and delivering in the final third.
Coventry have only ended a five-match winless streak as they beat Fleetwood Town (2-1) on Wednesday evening, finally ending a goalscoring drought as Amadou Bakayoko and Zain Westbrooke found the net to complete a second-half comeback. They failed to score in four games beforehand and still have a lot to prove if they’re to challenge for the top spot.
Sky Blues are still searching for their first away win this term and this could be even more worrying. They’ve seen goalless draws in three of the last four trips but shutting down in-form Peterborough should be much more of a task at this point – and we don’t see them making it happen.
We will thus stick with the home side to bag all three points and we’ll go for it at Evens with bet365, which seems like a great approach to the fixture despite a tough challenge expected from the visitors on Saturday afternoon.
Indeed, we’ve seen Coventry very solid defensively and this will have the travelling fans hopeful. While we don’t see them snatching points at Weston Homes Stadium, we do expect a narrow contest where slim margins make all the difference as we also go for Under 2.5 Goals FT at 10/11 with Paddy Power.
