Partick Thistle are enduring a very difficult campaign in the second tier. The Jags reached the play-off stages last year and came within one clash with Livingston from promotion back into the Scottish Premiership but instead of kicking on from that campaign they have struggled for form this season. With 26 games played they sit bottom of the Championship table, but they are still only one point from 8th placed Alloa Athletic.

One bright spot in a rather gloomy season for the Glaswegians has been their two victories in the Scottish Cup to reach the final eight stage. After beating Stranraer and East Fife to reach this stage, former Wigan Athletic boss Gary Caldwell and his team now face a much tougher test in the shape of top-tier Hearts. Hearts enjoyed a terrific start to the season and may have potentially seen themselves challenges the likes of Celtic and Rangers for the title after the first few months of the campaign. Inconsistency has held them back since then though and despite having club legend Craig Levein back in the dugout, they’ve now slipped to fifth place in the table as they look to hold onto a top six spot ahead of the split in the league in the coming weeks.
