Paderborn vs Schalke Match Preview
Schalke have struggled for consistency with a rather tough schedule to start with, where they held Borussia Monchengladbach to a draw (0-0), suffered a comfortable 0-3 loss to Bayern Munich, and beat Hertha (3-0) to end the winless streak just ahead of the International break.
Die Konigsblauen now travel to Paderborn for their Matchday 4 clash and hope to build on the consistency with points at Benteler-Arena, with perfect records against the league newcomers to build on. They’ve rediscovered their form in the final third against Hertha and will hope to keep the goals coming.
Paderborn have seen four seasons of ups and downs and rejoin the top flight after their debut back in 2014/15, failing to make an immediate impact in the top-flight. They’ve started with losses to Bayer Leverkusen (3-2) and Freiburg (1-3) despite netting three goals along the way and only ended the streak with a 1-1 draw at Wolfsburg most recently.
Blue and Blacks have been scoring goals on the regular and will surely not be sitting ducks on the day, promising a strong challenge with hopes to escape the bottom of the table early in the campaign. Their woes at the back will be more worrying for Steffen Baumgart, though, and could prove costly once again.
We do feel Schalke will be able to capitalize on such troubles and with that in mind, we’re sticking with an Away win at 13/10 with William Hill. We’ve seen them score three against Hertha and they should be able to outgun Paderborn at this point.
We should be in for goals and we’ll thus also go for Over 2.5 Goals FT here, which comes at 4/7 with 22bet and looks like buying money for old rope – with both sides scoring and conceding numbers of goals early on.
