Oxford vs Newcastle Match Preview
Newcastle travel to the Kassam Stadium for a replay of their FA Cup clash against Oxford, after being held to a goalless draw in front of the home fans despite dominating a rather exciting contest. They come into the match just days after another goalless draw against Norwich in Premier League and Steve Bruce will surely want more up front.
Magpies have still extended a seven-match unbeaten streak across competitions but a streak of three draws in a row will hardly be a great boost to their confidence, despite scoring two stoppage-time goals to hold off Everton beforehand. They have been conceding goals away from home regularly and could be forced to rely on goals scored in search of a ticket to the 5th Round.
Oxford, on the other hand, ended a four-match winless streak as they beat Blackpool (2-1) over the weekend, completing a comeback with a brace from Marcus Browne. Browne has been dangerous at St James’ Park and scored three in five League One outings since joining from Middlesbrough, which should see him leading the line once again.
The U’s have been scoring goals at the Kassam Stadium quite regularly and failed to do so in just one of their last seven outings. They’ll now be no sitting ducks as they look to capitalize on securing a replay here, as we hope for another exciting head-to-head clash and go for goals this time around.
Newcastle should still have what it takes to turn it their way and we’ll stick with the Premier League rivals to make their way to the 5th Round with a win priced at 21/20 with bet365, which does feel like the best value in the market at this point.
Magpies’ records point towards an exciting clash just as much, though, and we’re looking for more of the same as we now go for goals. We’ll back Over 2.5 Goals FT at 4/5 with William Hill and hope to see more chances converted in Oxford.
