Orlando City vs Philadelphia Union Match Preview
Orlando City have picked it up in June and we’ve seen them bag four wins in five outings across competitions, as they made their way over Memphis 901 (1-3) and New England (2-1) in US Open Cup but also beat Montreal Impact (0-3) and Columbus Crew (0-2) in MLS – only seeing DC United interrupt the streak in a 1-0 win at Audi Field.
Lions have struggled for great consistency but still have a lot to build on at Exploria Stadium, as they look to break into the top 7 and sit just two points behind Toronto with a game in hand. We thus expect them very motivated to impress and this promises a great challenge as they host Philadelphia Union.
It’s questionable if Philadelphia Union are up to the task here after seeing a US Open Cup exit in the hands of DC United (2-1) and struggling to bounce on trips to New England (1-1 draw) and New York City (4-2 loss). They have been scoring goals but Jim Curtin hasn’t really been able to find a cure for defensive woes along the way.
The U still sit at the top of Eastern Conference table and we should still see them in a good mood, regardless of a poor streak behind them. However, there’s obviously a lot to work on and the trip to Florida will surely be a great test to see if they’re making progress away from home.
We don’t feel they’ll be able to end the unwanted streak here, though, and we’ll now rather back Orlando City to bag all three points in a win priced at 11/10 with Ladbrokes – which caught a lot of attention already with their solid performances over the past month.
However, we feel they’ll have to outgun the visitors to do so and with that in mind, we’re also going for a high-scoring contest with Over 2.5 Goals FT at 8/13 with Unibet. This would be the fifth such occasion in six outings for the U and feels like more of a banker bet at this point.
