Nottingham Forest vs West Brom Preview
Nottingham Forest were one of the favourites for promotion last season but ended up finishing in ninth eight points outside the play-offs. They have a new man in the dugout in Sabri Lamouchi and he has been busy in the transfer market. Bookmakers expect a solid if unspectacular season and have them tenth in the title odds.
At the City Ground, the Tricky Trees were strong last season winning 13 times and losing on just six occasions. The 21 goals they conceded at their own place give them the joint-third best defensive record in the division.
West Brom finished the season in fourth place and the play-offs but were eliminated by local rivals Aston Villa in the semi-finals. They also have a new man in charge with former West Ham boss Slaven Bilic in the dugout. The odds have them as fourth favourites for the title but they have lost both forwards in Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle.
Away from the Hawthorns, the Baggies lost eight times which was the joint-second highest among the sides in the top nine. They were one of the divisions more entertaining outfits with a combined 65 goals from their 23 road fixtures.
It is hard to argue with the match prices on offer here which make Forest marginal favourites because of their home advantage. Both these players have attacking options so it is hard to know how they will line up exactly but we like the look of a couple of wide-man. Matt Phillips is key to a lot of what the visitors do and in the absence of Gayle and Rodriguez he might be given a more direct route to goal himself rather than provider and is the anytime scorer nod. Another wide player who could get on the scoresheet is Albert Adomah with the new Forest man having always had an eye for goal.
