Nottingham Forest vs Derby Match Preview
Nottingham Forest got into this East Midlands derby on the back of a morale boosting 2-1 road success at Luton with a goal each for Lewis Grabban and Sammy Ameobi. The expected goals data suggests they road their luck and that a draw would have been a fairer reflection.
At the City Ground, the Tricky Trees lost last time here to Hull but prior to that were unbeaten in four winning three of these. Only two sides (Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday) have a better home defence in the division than Forest who have conceded just five here.
Derby also got a confidence boosting victory as they saw off Middlesbrough 2-0 to claim a deserved three points. A Tom Lawrence brace made the difference and it was a welcome return to form for the midfielder whose off-field issues have been making more news than his performances.
Away from Pride Park, the Rams have struggled this campaign losing each of their last two and going winless in six. Five of the seven goals County have scored on the road this campaign have come before the interval.
It is hard to see past a home victory here in this East Midlands derby given that Forest have already beaten Derby 3-0 at this ground this season in the League Cup. The Tricky Trees have won three of their last four at home while the Rams are without a win in six on the road.
Neither side are especially prolific in front of goal so backing a home victory and under 4.5 goals in the match is an extra way to squeeze a little bit of value out of the fixture.
