Nottingham Forest suffered a second successive defeat as they went down 3-0 at Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night. The result was harsh on Forest who while the weaker team were not three goals weaker and could have snuck a point. They sit in 11th place and are eight points from the play-offs and they have five games remaining so it is a tough ask if mathematically possible.

At the City Ground, the East Midlands are showing good form with five victories from their last six with the sole defeat coming against an in-form Villa. The Tricky Trees strike late with their last six at home featuring seven goals in the final 20 minutes. In just two of their last ten at their own place have they kept a clean sheet.

Blackburn ended a run of three successive defeats as they deservedly defeated Derby 2-0 on Tuesday evening. They are in 16th place and have little to play for this season with them being far removed from both the play-offs and relegation. Tony Mowbray will obviously be given another season at the helm considering the Lancashire outfit were just promoted last campaign so he will be looking to work out systems and players for next season.

Away from Ewood Park, Rovers have been poor with five defeats and no victory from their last six and just one win in their last 14. No side in the Championship has shipped more road goals with Blackburn having conceded 44 times. Each of their last six on the road have seen both teams score and gone over 2.5 goals.

Nottingham Forest are the favourites to win the fixture but despite their decent home form they are not a side that could be trusted to win at those odds. Blackburn though do not offer any appeal as they are struggling on the road at the moment.

With the hosts needing to win and Rovers road games seeing goals galore this looks the way to attack the fixture.
