Nottingham Forest begin life under Martin O’Neill in this fixture after he was hired as Aitor Karanka’s successor in midweek fresh after an ultimately disappointing spell in charge of the Republic of Ireland team. He will come in with a reputation at the City Ground though as he is fondly remembered there from his playing days where he was part of the team that won two European Cups under the guidance of Brian Clough and he’ll be hoping to be the man to bring the good times back to this famous club.
It won’t be an easy job for O’Neill though, he arrives in Nottingham to take over a side that have won just one of their last eight games in all competitions.
