Norwich vs Sheffield Wednesday Match Preview
Norwich needed an 81st minute Teemu Pukki goal to claim a point from their last game which was away at Wigan. The 1-1 draw was the second successive one for City and it has enabled Leeds to cut the gap n them at the top to four points. More important though is Sheffield United are seven points behind and even if the Blades win all the remaining matches it would take just two victories for the Canaries to confirm promotion.
At Carrow Road, the Canaries are unbeaten in their last eight Championship fixtures having won six of these. Each of the last three and seven of the last eight have gone over 2.5 goals with six of them going over 3.5. The last five games at this venue have featured a combined ten goals before the half-time interval.
Sheffield Wednesday saw their play-off hopes extinguished at the hands of their local rivals going down 1-0 to Leeds. They are now in tenth place and are six points behind Bristol City in sixth who have a fixture in hand. The Yorkshire side have won just one of their last four with two of their last three matches ending in defeat.
Away from Hillsborough, the Owls have been a mixed bag of late with two victories, two defeats and four draws from their last eight. Just one of their last seven on the road has gone over 2.5 goals with four going under 1.5. They have netted just six times combined from their last eight away matches.
Whether it is the absence of key playmaker Emiliano Buendia or nerves but the Canaries have not been at their best recently. Wednesday were outclassed last week but did prove stubborn opponents and as such Norwich look too short to be backing.
Sheffield Wednesday conceded possession and the bulk of shots against Leeds last time out yet still kept things tight until the 65th minute and we could have a similar situation here. We like the look of the game to be goalless at the interval and the East Anglian side to win out eventually with a draw half-time/Norwich full-time bet
