Norwich vs QPR Match Preview
Norwich made it seven victories in a row with a 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough last weekend thanks to a Onel Hernandez goal. The result means they now sit five points clear at the top of the Championship and seven points ahead of Sheffied United in third. The East Anglian outfit also have the best goal-difference of the top three sides.
At Carrow Road, the Canaries are unbeaten in their last six winning five of these including each of their last four. Only two sides (West Brom and Aston Villa) have scored more home goals this season in the Championship than the 41 they have grabbed. Nine of the last 11 at this ground have seen both teams net and gone over 3.5 goals.
QPR were at one point in the season looking like potential play-off candidates but it has been a poor run that has seen them win just one of their last 15. The run means the end of Steve McClaren who was saced on Monday following a 2-1 home loss to struggling Bolton at the weekend. The London outfit are 17th and should be safe with eight points between them and the bottom three.
Away from Loftus Road, the Rs are without a victory in their last seven with five of these matches ending in defeat. On the road, the London outfit have both a bottom-third ranked attack and a bottom-third ranked defence. They have conceded at least two goals from their last five on the road and a 11 in total from these fixtures.
Norwich should win this match but the presence of a new man in the dugout might just do something for QPR who showed in a recent defeat of Leeds they still have the odd big game in them. At the odds then it is best to leave alone and look to other markets for the value.
The visitors are not known for their defence strength but a caretaker boss might look to make a name for himself and the easiest way to do that is to show they have strengthened the defence. The hosts might be clear at the top but the nearer they get to the finishing line the more the pressure they will feel so backing under 2.5 goals looks the play. I think Norwich will get over the line here but they might need to work and I like them at 1-0 in the correct score market as has happened in recent wins over Boro and Swansea.
