Norway Women vs Australia Women Predictions

Norway have a proud history at the Women’s World Cup and they will be hoping to add to it this summer. Gresshoppene have managed to reach the semi-final stage of the tournament on four previous occasions, going on to lift the trophy once, but it’s fair to say that recent years haven’t been quite as successful with their last final-four spot coming back in 2007, although this current vintage has potential to go far.

After a 3-0 victory to kick-off the tournament against a poor Nigeria outfit, Martin Sjogren’s team put up a strong fight against hosts France in their second fixture but eventually fell to a 2-1 defeat. Another hard-fought clash saw the Scandinavian side overcome South Korea in their final group game to set up this round of 16 tie which you can back them to emerge victorious from at odds of 11/5 with Unibet.

Australia have one of the most consistent records in Women’s World Cup history. Having failed to qualify for the first tournament in 1991, the Matildas were knocked out in the group stage in the next three competitions but have improved since then to reach the Quarter Finals of the following three competitions and they’ll hope they can reach the final eight stage once again by winning this Round of 16 clash.

Like their Saturday night opponents, the Oceanian outfit picked up two wins and were defeated once in the group stages. After a surprising opening loss to Italy, they bounced back to overcome a struggling Brazil outfit and a low-ranked Jamaica side to secure their route through to the second round of the tournament where they are slight favourites to head through at odds of 13/10 with Paddy Power.

We’re backing goals in this game, but we’re struggling to pick a winner. The two teams shared similar records in the group stages and appear to be of a similar quality, but there have been goals in their games, with Norway scoring in all three of their matches and conceding in two, whilst Australia both scored and conceded in all three of their group stages games. That’s why we’re backing both teams to score and the draw at 3/1 with Bet365.

Samantha Kerr is undoubtedly the stand-out player in this Australia team and she displayed her talents in the best possible fashion in the win over Jamaica, scoring all four goals in a thumping win for the Matildas. Added to her strike against Italy that takes her tally to five, the joint-most in the tournament so far, so we aren’t missing odds of 13/10 with Coral for another goal from the Chicago Red Stars striker.
