Norway vs Malta Stats
- Norway have five points to their name after beating Faroe Islands (0-2) in June
- Malta have seen comfortable losses to Spain (0-2), Sweden (3-0), and Romania (0-4) in their last three outings
- Lions bagged wins in all of the sides’ six competitive head-to-head clashes
Norway vs Malta Match Preview
Malta kicked off the EURO 2020 Qualifiers campaign in good spirits with a 2-1 win over Faroe Islands but expectedly struggled to build on the success against tougher opposition, travelling to Norway on Thursday evening with a three-match losing streak behind them and now goals scored along the way.
Knights of Malta have thus seen Spain (0-2), Sweden (3-0), and Romania (0-4) all secure the points with confidence and this has few keeping faith they can end the streak in Oslo. They’ve been conceding numbers of goals on the regular and Raymond Farrugia has obviously struggled to find a cure for such defensive woes – especially away from home.
Norway will now hope to capitalize on it as they host the clash desperate for points to catch up with the Group F top 2, now sitting two behind 2nd placed Romania and hoping they can use the opportunity to build on the consistency at Ullevaal Stadion with their second win in a row.
Indeed, Lions have beaten Faroe Islands (0-2) with a brace from Bjorn Johnsen in June to end a three-match winless streak, where they opened the campaign with a narrow 2-1 loss in Spain and shared the spoils with both Sweden (3-3) and Romania (2-2) in front of the home fans since then.
We do see them doing so and backing them to a comfortable win feels like buying money for old rope, as we go for Asian Handicap and Norway to win -2.5 at 3/5 with bet365. They have a history of such clashes against Malta and this should prove another such occasion in a row.
We haven’t really seen them scoring all too many goals often, though. With hope the visitors will not make an impact, we’ll thus also go for Under 3.5 Goals FT at 10/13 with Unibet and hope Malta can still avoid a humiliation at Ullevaal Stadion this time around.
