Northern Ireland vs Netherlands Match Preview
Northern Ireland kept up with the Group C top 2 and sit just three points behind with two crucial fixtures on the schedule now, hosting Netherlands for their Matchday 9 clash on Saturday in search of an upset in front of the home fans just days ahead of their trip to Germany.
Green and White Army have seen a thriller 3-1 loss in Rotterdam in October, where they took a late lead but saw the rivals complete a comeback, and they’ll now need more to make it count. Michael O’Neill’s men beat Czech Republic (2-3) in a friendly since and surely come pumped to show off, even if they’re going against all odds here.
Netherlands come into the match looking to make their lives easy with a clash against rock-bottomed Estonia scheduled on the final day of the campaign, boasting a four-match winning streak and a great goalscoring tally – where they bagged a high total of 13 goals on those four occasions.
Oranje beat Belarus (1-2) in a similarly narrow contest in Minsk last time out and they’ll now want to build on such team spirits. Ronald Koeman’s enjoyed an attacking approach and will hope to dictate the tempo at Windsor Park, despite high stakes involved and more of a thriller finish to the campaign than they might have hoped for.
We do feel they’ll have what it takes to outgun the rivals but we feel they’ll have to do just that, as we now stick our necks out for an Away win and a Yes on Both teams to score at 5/2 with bet365 in hope we’re in for an exciting contest on the day.
We should be in for goals and both sides’ records suggest just that, which has had many in the know going for Over 2.5 Goals FT as well – priced at 17/20 with Paddy Power and rated great value at this point.
