Northern Ireland vs Luxembourg Match Preview
Northern Ireland have been in great form early in their EURO 2020 Qualifiers campaign and they top the Group C table with 12 points from four outings, getting ready for their Matchday 5 clash against Germany as they host Luxembourg on Thursday evening in hope they can build on such performances.
Green and White Army are yet to see their toughest opposition but still surely feel great about their consistency, where they beat Estonia twice (2-0 at home and 1-2 on the road) and Belarus twice (2-1 at this ground and 0-1 in Borisov). Michael O’Neill now gets a lot to build on and we feel his men will be very motivated to keep hold of high team spirits.
Luxembourg have, on the other hand, struggled for such pick-me-ups and they’ve seen just two draws and two losses in their respective last four outings. They’ve seen Ukraine beat them twice in EURO 2020 Qualifiers (1-2 at home and 1-0 in Ukraine) and just a point in Lithuania (1-1) along the way will hardly be a great confidence booster.
Red Lions have seen a thriller 3-3 draw in a friendly against Madagascar and while they’ve been proving themselves tougher to beat lately, it’s a long way for them to pose a serious threat in EURO or World Cup Qualifiers. We do expect them motivated to show off, though, and this should prove an exciting occasion in Belfast.
Northern Ireland will still fancy their chances and we feel they have what it takes to connect their fifth win in a row ahead of the clash against Germany, as we go for a Home win and a Yes on Both teams to score – which feels like more than a lively longshot at this point.
We should thus be in for goals and we’re backing Over 2.5 Goals FT as well. We’ve seen Luxembourg enjoying such clashes on the regular and we hope to see them employ an attacking approach at Windsor Park, which should play a big role in getting our predictions right here.
