Northampton vs Derby Match Preview
Derby County finally picked it up and started climbing the Championship table, travelling to Northampton for their FA Cup clash in hope they can build on a six-match unbeaten streak earned since Boxing Day. They’ve had more trouble turning clashes their way on the road but Philip Cocu surely has high hopes his men can take confidence from such a streak.
Indeed, Rams beat Hull (1-0) with a single goal from Clarke over the weekend and bagged their third win in four outings in 2020, only seeing a thriller 2-2 draw at Middlesbrough interrupt the streak. They’ve been conceding goals quite regularly but still boast a solid goalscoring tally and great ground to build on here.
Northampton come into the match with a four-match winning streak of their own, where they beat Stevenage (1-0), Burton (2-4), Salford City (1-2), and Morecambe (4-1) since the New Year’s Day. They scored a total of 11 goals along the way and this promises an exciting occasion as well.
Cobblers have been conceding many goals too and this may be more worrying for the crowd at PTS Academy Stadium, as their men have to look for an upset. They’ve last seen a home loss in October and we’ll surely see them very motivated to show off once again on Friday evening.
However, we don’t see them turning this one their way and we’ll now rather stick with Derby County to secure a ticket to the 5th Round here already, going for an Away win at 4/5 with bet365 which seems like the best approach to the fixture at this point.
We do feel Rams will have to outgun the rivals to make it happen, though, and we’re thus also going for a Yes on Both teams to score at 4/5 with William Hill. We’ve seen both sides scoring and conceding on the regular and this feels like further evidence we should be in for a thriller here.
