Nimes vs Angers Match Preview
After turning a thriller clash at Angers their way with two goals in the final five minutes (3-4), Nimes host the rivals hoping for similar fate amid a troubled spell of form which has seen them drop down the league table and out of both Coupe de la Ligue (in the hands of Le Havre) and Coupe de France (in the hands of Lyon Duchere).
Nimes had returned to the winning ways as they returned to Ligue 1 after the winter break, beating Nantes (1-0) at this ground with a single goal from Sofiane Alakouch. However, Toulouse have then snatched all three points at Stade des Costieres and saw some grim faces once again, as Crocodiles struggle to build on their mid-table spot.
Angers will now want to capitalize on the rivals woes and jump them on the table, now sitting three points behind and coming on the back of a 1-0 home win over Nantes of their own.
Stephane Moulin’s men have thus ended a seven-match winless streak, though, and this could be more worrying as they struggle for such pick-me-ups on the road – still looking for their third away win after beating Dijon (1-3) and Monaco (0-1) back in September. They have been tougher to outclass but there’s a lot to prove in Nimes on the day.
We don’t see them doing so and we’ll now stick with Nimes to bag all three points in front of the home fans, where a Home win looks great value at 11/10 with Black Type – especially seeing Angers’ struggles on the road.
We don’t feel we’ll see as many goals between the sides this time around, though, and we’ll now also go for Under 2.5 Goals FT at 8/11 with Unibet. We have seen such matches in all of Angers’ last four trips as well as seven of Nimes’ last nine home outings – which all adds to such a belief.
