Nigeria vs Cameroon Match Preview
Nigeria already secured the top 2 spot but the 2-0 loss to Madagascar, where Nomenjanahary opened the scoresheet early on and Andriamatsinoro doubled the lead early in the second half, still came as a shock to many. They now have to bounce as they take on Cameroon for their 8th Finals clash, looking to rediscover their stability at the back.
Indeed, Super Eagles have beaten Burundi (1-0) and Guinea (1-0) in their first two outings and only took it in the final 20 minutes to untangled the clashes, as they looked very solid at the back and just as we got used to from them through most part of 2019.
Cameroon should prove one of the toughest challenges yet, though, and they boast an impressive defensive tally too – having kept three clean sheets in Egypt already. They’ve kicked off the campaign with a 2-0 win over Guinea-Bissau and kept hold of a spot in the knockout stages with draws against Ghana (0-0) and Benin (0-0).
Indomitable Lions have a seven-match unbeaten streak to build on as well and we do feel they’ll be confident in search of a ticket to the next stage, regardless of the fact they’ve been held off and unable to break the deadlock in any of their last two outings themselves.
We will still back Nigeria to turn another narrow occasion their way, though, and going for them to make their way to the Quarter-finals with a win feels like great value at 6/4 with MyBet – despite a strong challenge looming.
With high stakes involved, we also hope to see the sides base their approach on tough defensive displays on the day as well. With that in mind, we’re also sticking our necks out for Under 1.5 Goals FT at 7/5 with Hamabet and hoping just a single goal will be enough to untangle it.
