Nice vs Rennes Match Preview
Nice beat Red Star (2-1) in Coupe de France last week and now host Rennes for their Matchday 21 clash in a good mood, having capitalized on the Cup challenges so far and extending a six-match unbeaten streak across competitions since early December. They bagged four wins and two draws along the way and Patrick Vieira will want to build on it.
Eaglets have seen a more lenient schedule at Allianz Riviera lately and we’ve seen them beat Angers (3-1), Metz (4-1), Toulouse (3-0), and National 2 rivals Frejus St-Raphael (2-0) in four games beforehand. We thus expect them in a good mood but the task will be nowhere near an easy one on the day.
Rennes come into the match on the back of a Coupe de France success of their own, where they beat Athletico Marseille (0-2) on Sunday as Hamari Traore and Raphinha both found the net in the first half. They’ve been in great shape since early December and sit 3rd placed at this point, with a five-point gap to 2nd placed Marseille.
Red and Blacks bagged nine wins in their last 11 outings and only saw losses to Amiens (3-2) in League Cup and Marseille (0-1) in Ligue 1 interrupt the streak. They’ve been scoring goals on the road regularly and surely pose a serious threat in Nice, promising a great challenge indeed.
We do hope to see in-form sides both going for the points but we’ll stick our necks out for them to share the spoils on Friday evening, going for a Draw priced at 21/10 with William Hill as it feels like the best approach to the fixture.
We should be in for thrills and both sides’ recent goalscoring records suggest the same. With that in mind, we’re also backing a Yes on Both teams to score, which comes at 19/20 with bet365 and has caught the eye of many in the know.
