Newport County vs Tranmere Rovers Fansbet Preview
Tranmere experienced fairly serene progress through the semi-finals as Forest Green suffered red cards in both legs, meaning their opponents played with 10 men for about 100 minutes over the two games in total.
They shouldn’t be suffering too much from fatigue then, but although Newport had a long season after enjoying a spectacular FA Cup run and required penalties to overcome Mansfield, tired legs shouldn’t prove a problem for them either after a gap of 13 days since their second-leg encounter.

Newport County vs Tranmere Rovers Match Preview
Newport have been achieving a more solid finish to the 2018-19 season than Tranmere and are backed to return to the third tier of English football for the first time in 32 years.
County went bust in 1989 and had to start from the bottom again after they were re-formed, but are at their highest point since working their way back up the pyramid having enjoyed some superb FA Cup exploits and now reached the League Two play-off final.
The Exiles’ resurgence is a tribute in recent times to the work of manager Michael Flynn, who is understandably being linked with bigger jobs after an excellent couple of years at the helm capped by a current 12-match unbeaten run.
That includes the play-off semi-final against Mansfield in which Newport, despite finishing three places below their opponents in the table, drew both games and then won on penalties, with the key being the solid defending that has become their trademark.
Tranmere, meanwhile, edged past Forest Green with a 2-1 aggregate success, but they benefited from their opponents having to play more than half of the 180 total minutes with 10 men and they have won only two of their last nine games.
We can see this being a tight contest because that is how Newport tend to keep their matches and it may well go beyond normal time, but the Welsh club appear to have the greater momentum and can crown a terrific couple of seasons for them by securing promotion.
