Newcastle United vs Man United Match Preview
Manchester United travel to Newcastle for their Matchday 8 clash on Sunday, just days after being held to a goalless draw by AZ Alkmaar in Europa League and seeing another rather disappointing display in the final third – despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s attempt to shake things up with a rotated line-up.
Red Devils have seen their worst start of a campaign in 30 years and the problem obviously comes in their ability to create and convert chances. They’ve opened the campaign with a thrashing 4-0 win over Chelsea but failed to score more than a single goal in any of their nine outings since, which will be just as much of a worry.
Newcastle hope to capitalize and plot an escape from the relegation zone with points here, desperate to end their winless streak going back as far as August. They’ve shocked Tottenham (0-1) back then but earned just two points in four league games since and saw a League Cup exit in the hands of Leicester (on penalties after a 1-1 draw) along the way.
Magpies have obviously been a tougher side to beat at St. James’ Park and Arsenal have seen this as they snatched a 0-1 win, Leicester had to snatch their ticket to the next round on penalties , and Steve Bruce’s men shared the spoils with both Watford (1-1) and Brighton (0-0) since.
We now hope to see Newcastle show off as a tough nut to crack once again and we don’t see the struggling visitors snatching points. We’ll thus stick with a Double Chance – Home win or Draw, which comes at 19/20 with William Hill and looks like a solid approach at this point.
However, we feel Magpies will have to capitalize on Man United’s goalscoring woes and keep it together at the back, before anything else. With that in mind, we’re now also going for few goals on Sunday afternoon and Under 2.5 Goals FT at 8/11 with bet365.
