Newcastle vs Everton Match Preview
Everton have proven themselves a tough nut to crack despite an unpleasant schedule but this wasn’t enough for Duncan Ferguson to keep his job, as Carlo Ancelotti took over and they travel to Newcastle just days after hosting Burnley in search of their second win in eight outings across competitions.
Toffees held Arsenal to a goalless draw last week and built on points won against Chelsea (3-1) and Man United (1-1) since early December. They’ve seen a League Cup exit in the hands of Leicester (on penalties after a 2-2 draw) and Everton now have to pick it up late in the year if they’re to escape the danger zone.
Newcastle have been in a better place lately and will hope to show it, with a top 5 spot still well within reach. They sit three points behind 5th placed Sheffield United after beating the Blades (0-2), Southampton (2-1), and Crystal Palace (1-0) since early December and only seeing Burnley (1-0 loss) interrupt the streak.
Magpies have been a tough side to outclass at this ground and they’ve connected an eight-match unbeaten streak at St James’ Park since August, beating Man United (1-0) and holding off rivals such as Man City (2-2) and Wolves (1-1) as they earned 16 points along the way.
They have lacked goalscoring consistency and leaders up front but we feel Newcastle will prove themselves a tough nut once again, as we now back them to secure at least a point with a Double Chance – Home win or Draw at 8/13 with William Hill.
We’ve seen both sides scoring and conceding quite regularly and we feel we’re in for another such occasion, which should result in a thriller. We’re backing a Yes on Both teams to score at 4/5 with bet365 as the best approach to the fixture at this point.
